The .018" thick copper sheet for the fenders is first crimped and hammered to thicken it around the edges, then worked in the centre with the ball of the hammer to stretch the copper. Between each session it is annealed to relieve the stresses and soften the metal. Hard wood patterns and metal stakes are used to form the finished shapes.
