All Bitt joints of the Shell Plating require a Butt Strap across them on the inside. This being the means for riveting the Shell Plating together over the entire ship’s hull.  It is provided with a double row of rivet heads for each plate. A Frame is cut to allow for a Timber Loading Port on each side, into which is placed a formed strip of aluminium to hold the additional stringers in place above and below the opening, while being soldered in place.  The door frame parts are silver soldered together to form a unit, which is then soft soldered in place between the respective frames.  The door hinges being soft soldered to the Shell Plating on the out side. The Outside Plating is soft soldered to the Inside Plating with the aid of the Carbon rod soldering unit.
