1938 2.9 8C Alfa Romeo Le Mans Coupe.

The door catch mechanism is in two parts, all made from nickel silver and silver soldered together. The handle and base plate are on the out side of the door, and the mechanism on the inside, all held together with a single nut and bolt. On pulling out the handle to open the door, a lever on the inside operates a cam that pulls back the spring loaded door catch, on releasing the handle, the spring closes the handle and returns the catch.  All is concealed under a small nickel silver cover, that slides into place.
