The dies are left to harden for a day or two, then the hard wood pattern is separated from the resin mould and both parts cleaned up and all wax removed.  Copper sheet is cut to match the shape of each section with an allowance to accommodate the shape required.  This is annealed, before being placed between the two halves of the die, which are then forced together to form the shape required.  This can be done in a large vice, or in this case with a smart smack from a large club hammer.
