What is the Wingrove Workshop?

With the on-set of retirement after thirty five years of building models of the ultimate in classic cars for Museums and Private collectors, I have acquired the freedom that I have looked forward to very  much, and I am.now in the position of being able to create miniatures of anything I choose, in my own time.

For those who have been visiting and making use of the previous web site at this location, you will be familiar with the format of ‘Current Project’, Questions and Comments, Books, and the very useful set of Links.  I have carried these over from that site, and they will continue here unchanged.

My aim is to do the same with ships, carriages and aircraft, as I have been doing with the car models for the past two years - to give those interested in Model Engineering an insight into just how all those little bits and bobs are made and go together to create a miniature of the chosen subject.

To date, I have written six books on the various aspects of Model Engineering, and there will be more to follow.  However, words can only tell part of the story.  Seeing step-by-step photos of how pieces are made can open up a whole new world and answer many baffling questions; and better still,  being able to view short video sequences of this process will, I hope, be the next best thing to actually being in the workshop with me.  The aim of the ‘Wingrove Workshop’ will be to do just that in due time. Bear with me though, as I still have to come to terms with the new Panther Mac operating system, and the task of creating of videos for the internet. I shall now, at last, have the time to master these.

Although the car plans and data photos have gone with WinCol.com, I have every hope that they will reappear at another spot on the internet in due time.  However, we do still have the carriages, and I will be expanding those plans as time permits.   I also hope to make available copies of the plans for the ships and aircraft, as and when they become the current project, so we have a lot of interesting and varied subjects to look forward to.  In anticipation of retaining your interest, and if you have any suggestions for model engineering techniques that you would like explained in more detail, please send in an e-mail and we will see what we can do.

Good luck with your model making.
